What are the symptoms?

  • Nasal congestion (stuffy nose)

  • Runny nose

  • Itchy nose

  • Sneezing


In children, symptoms may also include:

  • Frequent nose rubbing (“allergic salute”)

  • Dark under-eye circles (“allergic shiners”)

  • Restless sleep

  • Snoring or mouth breathing

  • Poor attention or daytime irritability

What is nose allergies (or allergic rhinitis)?

Allergic rhinitis happens when the nose becomes inflamed after exposure to environmental allergens like dust mites, pollen, mould spores, or pet dander. In Hong Kong’s humid climate, dust mites are the most common trigger, affecting both adults and children.
